It is in the wild and beautiful desert of Thar, in the northwestern Indian province of Rajasthan - the land that inspired the Maharajas to build their sumptuous palaces reminiscent of "Arabian Nights" - that Anwar Khan's Group ancestry is rooted. In this original land of gypsies, many troubadours and wandering musicians have gone from town to town to the fun princes and their courtiers. It is a land of ancient music and spiritual tradition, cradle of a multitude of traditions and cultural know-how that have been transmitted through the ages, from generation to generation, by poets, musicians, dancers and fakirs.
Anwar Khan was barely 10 years old when he started playing as a professional, touring India, where he was soon known for his great voice and command of harmonium and tablas.
